Spring Mountain Goes Full Throttle With Nine Miles of Racetrack, Competitive Racing and Exclusive Club Life Near Las Vegas!

by | All Car Clubs, Featured Car Condos

Just outside Las Vegas, the sound of a race engine carries across the Nevada desert as another driver heads toward a fast corner at Spring Mountain Motor Resort & Country Club.

This is no ordinary weekend track day. On the same sprawling motorsport campus, Corvette owners learn to handle their cars at speed, Radical racers chase championship points, and private-club members return for another lap.

Located in Pahrump, approximately 55 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, Spring Mountain has grown far beyond the six-mile circuit described in its earlier years. Club Spring Mountain now advertises more than nine miles of road course, over 70 configurations, and at least 16 member track days each month.

Its mix of private driving, performance schools, organized competition, and professional support has made the resort a destination for enthusiasts who want much more from their time behind the wheel.

Over Nine Miles of Racetrack Built for Serious Driving

The scale of Spring Mountain is striking. Rather than one fixed loop, the resort offers a network of layouts that lets instructors, club members, and race organizers choose different challenges. According to the club, its current racing network exceeds nine miles, with more than 70 configurations, including the newer Charleston Peak circuit.

The earlier course helped establish Spring Mountain’s reputation with sweeping turns, quick direction changes, off-camber corners, and substantial elevation changes. Club materials describe recognizable corner concepts inspired by famous road courses, including Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen, and Road Atlanta. Charleston Peak adds a broad, approximately 40-foot-wide racing surface designed for serious performance driving.

Spring Mountain also markets four independently rentable track areas—Charleston Peak, East, North/South, and West—allowing different types of driving programs and events to take place across the property. The familiar 6.1-mile long-course figure remains part of the property’s earlier published configuration history, but should not be confused with today’s total advertised track mileage.

What makes that variety valuable is the challenge it presents to drivers. A corner that rewards patience in a Corvette may require a different approach in a lightweight Radical prototype; a familiar braking point can change when the course direction or layout changes. Members can return again and again without simply repeating the same lap.

Co-owner John Morris explained the idea behind the resort in an interview quoted in CCC’s original article:

“I didn’t want just another racetrack. I wanted to create something that made people feel special. A place that made them feel like they were at a resort – someplace comfortable where they could relax with friends, entertain clients or enjoy family time after a great day of racing.”

That philosophy still helps explain Spring Mountain’s unusual combination of serious motorsport and a private country-club setting.

From Track Days to Championship Racing

For members who want competition rather than just practice laps, Spring Mountain has a formal race calendar. Its Radical Cup Challenge and Sports Car Race Series bring drivers together for qualifying sessions, racing, season points, trophies, and championship standings.

Radical competitors race purpose-built sports prototypes, including models from the SR3 family. Unlike road-going sports cars, these lightweight machines place the driver close to the track and reward precision, commitment, and smooth control. The separate sports-car series has featured GT4 and GTL competition, bringing another style of racing to the club.

The club’s published 2026–2027 season began in September 2026, with racing continuing through regularly scheduled weekends. Its September and October 2026 newsletters also describe open practice, member lapping sessions, coaching, and social activities around the race weekends. Drivers can pursue their own goals on the circuit while family and guests follow the competition from trackside viewing areas.

A human side emerges from the results. In the club’s October 2026 newsletter, longtime member Mark Rohrwasser recounts how he initially bought a Radical expecting to do only a few track days. He later became a regular competitor and earned class championships in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Stories like his show how a private track-day hobby can become a serious sporting pursuit.

Three Performance Driving Schools, Three Ways to Get Faster

Spring Mountain is also a training ground for drivers who may never enter a championship race. Its performance schools combine classroom study, car-control exercises, instructor-led laps, and video or data review. The programs range from helping an owner understand a powerful new road car to preparing an aspiring racer for open lapping and wheel-to-wheel competition.

Ron Fellows Performance Driving School — Chevrolet Corvette

Named for celebrated Canadian road racer Ron Fellows, this is Spring Mountain’s official Corvette performance driving program. The school introduces owners to the capabilities of the mid-engine Corvette through braking exercises, autocross, cornering techniques, and guided track sessions. More advanced classes build toward open lapping, driving lines, passing awareness, and greater confidence at speed.

The current curriculum lists programs using Corvette Stingray and Z06 models, with certain specialty owner classes available according to eligibility and scheduling. It is a particularly compelling way for a Corvette owner to learn what the car can do in a controlled environment rather than on public roads.

Cadillac V-Performance Academy — Blackwing Sedans

The Cadillac V-Performance Academy teaches drivers how to manage the power and handling of the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing. Its two-day sessions include performance braking, vehicle dynamics, autocross, and instructor-led track driving. Eligible first retail owners or lessees of qualifying new Blackwing vehicles may receive academy tuition through Cadillac, subject to the manufacturer’s terms.

This program adds another dimension to Spring Mountain: it isn’t exclusively a playground for low-slung race cars. High-performance sedans are part of the motorsport experience too.

Radical Racing Academy — Race-Car Technique

For drivers who want to move closer to competition, the Radical Racing Academy uses the Radical SR3 XX. Its two-day program combines lead-follow instruction, timed open lapping, race-car technique, and video analysis. The advanced course adds racing lines, overtaking strategy, and more intensive seat time. Some participants may qualify for SCCA licensing pathways if they meet the applicable requirements.

With Corvette sports cars, Cadillac performance sedans, and Radical race prototypes all represented, the range of vehicles and skill levels at Spring Mountain is one of its biggest strengths.

Arrive and Drive, Coaching, and Trackside Support

Members don’t necessarily need to bring every tool, spare part, or piece of equipment to enjoy a racing weekend. Spring Mountain Racing offers an Arrive & Drive service, along with Radical sales, parts, and service support. The idea is simple: spend more time preparing to drive and less time managing the logistics surrounding the car.

Club Spring Mountain also advertises simulators and coaching stations in its Driver’s Lounge, trackside viewing towers, and on-site garage rentals, including options equipped with lifts. These services make the facility useful not only for dedicated racers but also for car collectors who want to develop their driving skills over time.

Outside groups can book track rentals for car-club events, vehicle launches, corporate programs, and specialist instruction. Because several circuits can operate independently, the venue has room for both private member experiences and professional motorsport activities.

Go-Kart Competition Adds Another Racing Dimension

Spring Mountain’s expanding motorsport program also includes an organized karting operation. The club’s 2026 updates describe a 1.12-mile, 19-turn full kart circuit, hosting club races as well as visiting karting organizations.

The February 2026 newsletter reported 36 drivers at its January race weekend, while the September newsletter described a fall calendar of karting competitions. Kart racing provides an additional path for sharpening racecraft, with close competition, quick reactions, and technical precision at the center of the experience.

Where Racers Become a Private Motorsport Community

There is a reason Spring Mountain calls itself a motor resort and country club. After the helmets come off, the day’s stories continue around the clubhouse and paddock. Members compare lap times, discuss new setups, watch friends compete, and return for another weekend with people who share the same enthusiasm for cars and racing.

The club’s approximately 8,000-square-foot clubhouse, lounge, fitness facilities, pool, and hospitality spaces support the social side of motorsport. Spring Mountain’s race weekends also include gatherings for spouses and guests, dinners, and celebrations that make the experience more personal than a conventional circuit rental.

Those interested in the residential side of this community have additional options, from on-site accommodations and car-storage arrangements to luxury trackside estates. We cover those homes, collector garages, and resort amenities in a separate CCC feature so this article can stay focused on racing.
