The Chevrolet Corvette (C4) was America’s premier sports car and was produced from 1984 to 1996 using the LT4 and LT5 engines. Mecum will be auctioning off fifteen C4 Corvettes, including some upscale LT5/ZR-1 models. A C4/ZR-1 top-end selling price is about $89,000.

Designed by Dave McLellan, the Chevrolet Corvette C4 officially started production in 1984 and set a new standard for performance and, even more specifically, cornering. As a result, the C4 Corvette was the first Corvette to corner as well as Porsche or Ferrari. Consequently, this hailed in a new performance era for the Corvette, which resulted in a total of 358,180 cars manufactured from March 1983 to the end of 1996.

THE VENUE
The Mecum Auction will take place at the 388,800 square foot Kansas City Convention Center, conveniently located in downtown Kansas City. It includes convenient parking, concession stands, and a host of creature comforts. On a historical note, the Convention Center was originally named after former mayor Harold Roe Bartle and includes art deco-inspired pylons and is a beautiful place to visit.
