Bonhams will be holding a special vehicle auction called “The Golden Age of Motoring” to sell over 50 antique and classic collectible vehicles starting on November 3, 2023, from their premier location on Bond Street in London, United Kingdom.
With over 25 lots featuring vintage and classic vehicles from the late 19th to the early 20th century, it’s like taking a step back into the birth of motoring. Not only are these cars drop-dead gorgeous and oozing with elegance, but they’re also incredibly rare and valuable.
Some of them have been in the same family ownership for decades, while others have been restored to their original glory. Whether you are looking for a project, a showpiece, or a driver, you will find something to suit your taste and budget at this auction.
The auction will feature over 25 lots of vintage and classic cars dating from the late 19th and early 20th century.
Some of the highlights vehicles include:
- A 1912 Isotta-Fraschini Tipo PM Roadster that requires recommissioning. Isotta-Fraschini was a well-known Italian luxury car manufacturer that produced some of the most luxurious and elegant ever made. The Tipo PM was a four-seater roadster with a 5.9-liter four-cylinder engine and a four-speed gearbox. The Isotta-Fraschini is also one of the fastest cars on the road reaching speeds of over 80 mph. This example has been in the same family ownership since 1928 and has been stored for many years. It is estimated to sell for £400,000 – £420,000.
- A 1904 Richard-Brasier 16hp Type O Four-cylinder Side-entrance Tonneau. Richard-Brasier was a French car manufacturer who won the prestigious Gordon Bennett Cup in 1904 and 1905. The Type O was a large and luxurious touring car with a 3.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a three-speed gearbox. It had a distinctive radiator grille and a spacious Tonneau body that could accommodate five passengers. This example is one of only two known survivors and has been restored to a high standard. It is estimated to sell for £300,000 – £400,000 (US$370,000 – US$490,000).
- A 1903 Wolseley 7.5hp Twin-cylinder Rear-entrance Tonneau. Wolseley was a British car maker that pioneered the use of horizontal engines and water cooling. The 7.5hp model was a small and agile car with a 1.6-liter twin-cylinder engine and a two-speed gearbox. It had a simple but elegant rear-entrance tonneau body that could seat four people. This example is one of the oldest surviving Wolseleys and has been in the same family ownership since 1920. It is estimated to sell for £150,000 – £200,000 (US$180,000 – US$250,000).
