HOUSTON TX, MAR. 21, 2023 – Mecum Auction will broadcast live over the MotorTrend Network three days of action-packed bidding on over 1,000 Motor City American Classic Cars from the NRG Center In Houston Texas On April 13-15, 2023.
The main attraction of the auction will come from the sale of the Pete Horton car collection and the Horton Classic Car Museum in Nocona, Texas. The Horton Museum recently closed due to Pete Horton’s death, which resulted in the sale of his 120 iconic American muscle cars, including 40 extremely rare Corvettes.
From both The Horton collection and many others, Mecum will be offering up over a record-breaking sixty collectible Corvettes – ranging from 1953-1923. Forty of the Corvettes are from the Horton Car Collection of which three are 1963 Split Window Coupes. Uniquely, Horton’s Corvette collection includes a Corvette for every year ranging from 1953 to 1970.

In addition to Corvettes, around 900 highly sought-after “Detroit Steel” Motor City muscle cars will be available for purchase.
Dominating the muscle car class will be Chevrolet with over (200) Camaros, Novas, Corvettes, Chevelles, Impalas, and pickups followed by Ford Motors with over (100) Ford Mustangs’, Shelbys, Thunderbirds, Broncos, and Pickups.
Over 1000 Motor City Muscle Cars will be looking for new owners at the three day Mecum NRC Center Houston Auction, including a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback, a 1970 Plymouth 42 HP Hemi Cuda, a 1963 Chevrolet Split Window Corvette Coupe, and a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible 440 5-Speed.
The Dodge brand will make a showing with only (20) Challengers, Vipers, and Rams and ties Plymouth with (20) Road Runners, Barracuda, and Prowler s. Lastly is Pontiac with only four hands full of GTOs, Trans Ams, and a Tempest.
Other car brands up for auction include Oldsmobile, Buick, Packard, Jeep, Studebaker, AMC, Lincoln, and Continental.
There will be only a handful of foreign vehicles including only (1) Ferrari a 2008 Red Ferrari F430 with only 4,378 miles.

- The Bill Barker Estate Car Collection
The Mecum Auction at the NRC Center in Houston, TX will open daily at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online for $20 or at the gate for $30. Children are admitted for free.

• Tuesday and Wednesday, April 11-12 from 8 AM until 6 PM
AUCTION
• Gates open daily at 8 AM and close around 6 pm
• The gates will close one hour after the last car crosses the block.

DAILY TICKET PRICE
- Advance Ticket: $20 per person, per day.
- (Advance Tickets sales are offered until 11:59 PM April 12, 2023, CDT)
- Tickets at the NRG Center front door cost $30 per person, per day.
- Children under 12 years and younger are free.
- Attendees with general admission tickets might not be able to enter the auction arena due to capacity restrictions.
