While the auction’s overall volume was slightly down from the previous year, key results were record-setting in certain niches, notably a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L89 Coupe, which sold for $1,705,000, becoming one of the most expensive L89-equipped Corvettes ever sold.

Interestingly, the auction’s headline car, the ex-Steve McQueen Porsche 917K, failed to sell despite receiving a high bid of $25 million, underscoring the selective nature of the ultra-high-end market.

About the Venue

The massive, 200-acre Osceola Heritage Park provides a seamless experience for Mecum’s auction. This massive size helps Mecum run the auction smoothly. For instance, the park offers lots of on-site parking, which costs about $15 per day. They even have special parking spots just for Gold bidders.

When you get hungry, you’re in luck! The park has its own food service called SAVOR Kissimmee. This team runs concession stands all over the huge indoor and outdoor areas. To keep things moving fast, all food and drink transactions are cashless.

This is great because it means serious car collectors spend less time waiting in line and more time hunting for the perfect classic car.
