On the car trophy side, the awards went to a one-of-a-kind vintage 1934 Bentley, that was once owned by Marjorie Merriweather Post, and the 2017 Cadillac DPi-V.R race car.

On the auction side, all three auction houses set sales records for individual vehicle sales. Combined, the three auction houses of RM Sotheby’s, Bonhams, and Gooding & Company sold over $125million in cars with 33 cars selling for over $1million and a sell-through rate of around 90%.
Bonhams sold a few remarkable cars at all-time record-breaking high prices. On a single day, Gooding grossed over $15 million with a higher than sell-through rate of 95%. Individually, Bonhams sold two cars for over $1million including a vintage 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder that sold for $4,185,000 and a rare 1929 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Victoria that sold for $1,066,500. Selling for just under $1 million was a classic 1954 Jaguar 120 SE XK Coupe for $940,000, and a 1937 Riley Two Seater Sprite Sports Car for $491,750
This 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe Sold at 2022 Amelia Island Gooding Auction For $13,425,000 Million
The Gooding & Company experienced the highest gross sales of all the Auctions. Altogether, Gooding sold $69,209,480 worth of collector cars with a remarkable 94% sell-through rate. Additionally, they sold 93 out of 99 cars with 20 of them selling for over one million dollars.
“Over 20 Cars Sold For Over $1 Million”
The highest price cars that sold for over $1million was a 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe for $13,425,000 followed by a 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental Fastback that sold for $2,975,000. a 1959 Porsche 718 RSK that sold for $2,975,000, and a prized one-of-a-kind 1967 Toyota Shelby 2000 GT that sold for $2,535,000.
RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island 2022 sold a total of 80 collectible cars with a total of $46,636,640 in sales and an incredible sell-through rate of 89%. A total of eight cars were sold for over $1million including a 1934 Packard Twelve Individual Custom Convertible Victoria by Dietrich that sold for $4,130,000, a 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari that sold for $3,662,500, and a 1930 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Sedan Coach by Murphy that sold for $3,525,000. Amelia Island Concours Awards
Back to the Concours Awards, the most coveted “Best of Show” d’Elegance award at the 2022 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance went to a 1934 Duesenberg (J-531) Convertible Coupe owned by car collector Harry Yeaggy’s, from Ohio. The 1934 Duesenberg carries the nickname “Duesie” from original owner Marjorie Merriweather Post who used the car at her Long Island Summer Estate. Under the hood of the LaGrande Convertible Coupe is powered by an eight-cylinder 420-cubic inch engine and was known to max out at over 115mph.
Lastly, the second “Best in Show” Sport award went to a 2017 Cadillac DPi-V.R professional race car owned by owner Wayne Jackson. In the past, the Konica Minolta-sponsored race car won a 24 Hours At Daytona under Champion Wayne Taylor Racing team. The Cadillac DPi-V.R race car also won races and awards at the 2019 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, and at the 2018 Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, USA.
