It is a trifecta that includes the Mecum’s Las Vegas Auction on October 7th\, The Chattanooga/Mecum Auction on October 15-16\, and the Mecum Chicago auction scheduled for October 23\, 2021. \nWith record sales from all the auction houses\, its hard to tell if people are collecting more cars\, or everyone is just swapping among themselves. \nThe Mecum Auction Is Held Along Side The Chattanooga Motor Festival & Concours d’Elegance Three Day Event. Both Take Place The Weekend of October 15-17\, 2021 \nAlso See: The Chattanooga Motor Festival & Concours d’Elegance Three Day Event Celebrates The Weekend of October 15-17\, 2021 \nThis year celebrates the 2nd annual  Chattanooga Festival in combination with a Mecum Auction. This rare one of a kind race car is a 1965 Lola T70 MkI Spyder and should command top dollar. \nThe hidden jem has significant historical value\, rarity\, and petagree. Matter of fact\, it was once owned by both Carroll Shelby and Dan Gurney.  The car was even campaigned by Dan Gurney’s and his All-American Racing team. \nAnd if looks could kill? This Lola has a beautiful two-tone\, light on dark\, custom paint job complimented by a jet black custom hand stitched leather racing interior. \nThe Racer is powered by a 5.0L Chevrolet V-8 engine which torques a Hewland 4-speed manual transmission. “Wicked Fast!” \nIn this picture is a 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Convertible and a The Carroll Shelby and Dan Gurney 1965 Lola T70 MkI Spyder. Collectors come from across the globe to Hershey each year in search of the rarest and most sought-after parts and collectibles. \nThe Hershey Lodge in Hershey\, Pennsylvania Is Where The RM Sotheby’s Auction Will Take Place on October 7 & 8\, 2021 \nHershey\, Pennsylvania is rich in car culture\, home to the world headquarters of the AACA and the AACA Museum\, and a truly world-class automotive experience.RM Sotheby’s Hershey PA \n\nSCHEDULE AND TIMES OF EVENTS \nWED 6 OCT 2021\nPREVIEW from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM\nPREVIEW & BBQ at: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM \nTHURSDAY OCTOBER 7th\, 2021\nPREVIEW: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM\nAUCTION: 5:00 PM – CLOSE \nFRIDAY OCTOBER 8th\, 2021\nPREVIEW: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM\nAUCTION: 5:00 PM – CLOSE \n(CHECK SOTHEBY’S OFFICIAL SCHEDULE) \n\nABOUT THE AUTO AUCTION\nThree outstanding American classics\, offered from a single-owner collection\, are set to cross the block\, all offered without reserve. Longer than any Packard and lower than any Duesenberg\, this 1931 Duesenberg Model J Roadster known as the “Green Hornet” sits among the most remarkable examples available on the market\, wearing unique and rakish Packard Roadster bodywork fitted by Duesenberg in 1931. \nThis important and bespoke Duesenberg claimed an award at the prestigious Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance (Estimate: $1\,400\,000 – $1\,800\,000). It would be an outstanding addition to any world-class collection. Accompanying the Duesenberg is a 1935 Auburn Eight Supercharged Speedster\, one of the most instantly recognizable and striking of all the iconic pre-war American sports cars. \n1931 Duesenberg Model J Roadster \nA model much in demand with collectors\, this stunning example on offer in Hershey was a best-in-class winner at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and will undoubtedly attract significant interest (Estimate: $700\,000 – $900\,000). \nRounding out the third American classic offered from this collection is a 1930 Packard 745 Deluxe Eight Roadster by LeBaron. Exhibited at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance\, this car is one of just a handful of authentic examples believed to still be in existence (Estimate: $350\,000 – $450\,000). \nAmong the American classics crossing the block in Hershey is one of the most collectible\, rare\, and highly desired Packard models\, notable for its striking coachwork\, this 1940 Packard Custom Super Eight One Eighty Sport Sedan by Darrin is one of just four examples believed to have been produced. \nThis Super Eight has been awarded first place at the Packard Automobile Classics National and was a first prize winner at a CCCA National Senior event. Offered from one of the world’s preeminent Packard collections\, this example has a pre-sale estimate of $325\,000 – $375\,000. \n1930 Packard 745 Deluxe Eight Roadster by LeBaron \nNo Hershey sale is complete without a selection of fine brass era cars. This year is no exception with a stand-out lot being the 1912 Stanley Roadster Tribute\, a fascinating tribute to Chassis 6700; the bespoke Roadster commissioned by company heir Raymond Stanley. \nThis example was constructed using the chassis\, running gear\, steam engine\, and underpinnings of the 1912 Stanley which was driven by Jay Leno in 2017 to the summit of Mount Washington\, recreating the famous 1899 summitting by company founder Freelan Oscar Stanley (Estimate: $150\,000 – $200\,000). \nOther notable entries set to cross the block in Hershey include a supremely rare and impeccably presented 1909 Peerless Model 19 Touring. With correct and desirable fittings throughout\, this Peerless is one of just two examples believed to be produced by the Peerless Motor Car Company of Cleveland\, Ohio. \nThis example was awarded the “Early Pioneer” Award during the 2015 Elegance at the Hershey Concours d’Elegance and will cross the block as an AACA National First Prize Winner (Estimate: $100\,000 – $150\,000). \nThis year’s Hershey sale is also notable for an excellent selection of classic American ‘Woodies’. The high-quality selection of Woodies is led by a beautiful 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Sportsman Convertible. This Certified Milestone Car is among the rarest and most reliable of all Ford ‘Woodies’ (Estimate: $100\,000 – $125\,000). \nHOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS AT THE HERSEY HOTEL & RESORT \nRESERVATIONS (844) 330-1802\nADDRESS: HERSHEY LODGE 325 UNIVERSITY DRIVE\, HERSHEY\, PA 17033 \n\nClient Service and Administration Contacts\nClient Service: Jera Presley\njpresley@rmsothebys.com\n+1 260 927 9797 \nAdministration: Allie Brydges\nabrydges@rmsothebys.com\n+1 519 437 3049

In 1983\, these individuals presented the idea for a car show to the Board of Directors of RMR with the idea of making the event a fundraiser for a deserving local charity. \nColorado Concours d’Elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show \nIn the first two years\, 1984 and 1985\, the show was part of the “Carousel Days”\, a benefit for The Marvin Davis Children’s Diabetes Foundation\, and was held in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center parking lot. \nThere were approximately 30 collectible cars on display and the contribution for the charity was about $1\,200. \nIn 1986\, the charity was changed to Cerebral Palsy of Colorado (name changed to Ability Connection Colorado in 2013) Children’s Program when the Davis Family moved to California. \n \nThe car show was then moved to the University Hills Shopping Center and was there for four or five years. In 1993\, the car show was moved to its present location\, Arapahoe Community College. \nNow in its 36th year\, the event is referred to as the “Colorado Concours d’Elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show” and has raised over $2M for the Creative Options for Early Childhood Education Program at Ability Connection Colorado. \n\nSmooth Jazz Entertainment By MoDaZz \nFor the 12th year in a row\, this year’s car show will feature live music performances by MoDaZz. Enjoy a unique blend of smooth jazz\, fusion\, and standards which include a powerful array of songs by artists such as Spyro Gyra\, Richard Elliot\, John Klemmer\, David Sanborn\, Lee Ritenour\, Eric Johnson\, etc. To listen to a few samples from MoDazz. \n\nCharity & Donations \nNow in its 38th year\, Colorado Concours has raised over $1.6M for the five Creative Options Centers for Early Childhood Education at Ability Connection Colorado. SUMMARY:The Oldest Annual Car Festival In The U.S. Opens at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village Campus in Dearborn MI (Sept. 11-12\, 2021)
DESCRIPTION:At the longest-running antique car show in America\, since 1950\, you will be immersed in the moving stories of the early automotive era\, perfectly set in the place where the history of the American automobile not only is passionately preserved but also comes to life every day. From the turn of the century to the Great Depression\, Old Car Festival in Greenfield Village offers a raucous ride of vehicles that epitomize the earnest optimism of the American Dream. \nGenerations of car owners share their passion with fans during this beloved tradition\, showcasing an astounding array of restored vehicles in an authentic hometown setting that brings you right into a long-ago moment. \nWander through the Village and talk to owners about their treasured vehicles. The ongoing Pass-in-Review parade is a car lover’s dream\, as electric\, steam\, and gas-powered engines are constantly in motion around you. Watch drivers engage in games of skill\, see a Model T assembled in just minutes\, or just sit back and enjoy our experts sharing “car talks” while historic vehicles cruise. \nAt The Henry Ford Greenfield Village Car Show\, you’ll discover America. The museum includes culture\, inventions\, people and can-do spirit \nRagtime America comes to life in the center of Greenfield Village with historically-inspired street food\, music\, dancing\, and even a cakewalk. Plan to stay late Saturday evening for the Gaslight Parade of Cars\, and dance along with popular music of the Ragtime era. Cap off the evening with a Dixieland-style parade and a fireworks finale. \nThere will be special events as well as open driving. All participants are expected to showcase their vehicle during the time Greenfield Village is open for Old Car Festival. \nCAR SHOW EVENTS & HIGHLIGHTS:\n\nSaturday\, September 11th\, 2021 is the car show for vehicles dating 1919-1932\nSunday\, September 12th\, 2021 s the car show for vehicles dating 1896-1918 & Commercial Vehicles.\nAll awards and ribbons will be presented on Sunday at approximately 4:30pm.\nAutomotive Demonstrations\, Car Games\, A Gaslight Tour and a Concourse dElegance Type Car Show\n\n\n\nTHIS IS WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE CAR SHOW \nAutomotive Demonstrations – This Will take place on Walnut Grove. These activities are designed to give our guests an idea of what early motoring was like. There will be narrated demonstrations on side-curtains installation\, different forms of early lighting such as acetylene and propane lamps\, as well as electric and steam cars. \nCar Games – Will also be held on Walnut Grove. The games really give you an opportunity to show off your vehicle and your driving skills. They allow our guests to see you and your car in action in a fun setting and help put the “festival” into the event. We have scheduled the games to make it easy for you to get involved.\nAll participants receive a ribbon for playing in the Car Games. You can participate as often as you like on either or both days\, but you will receive only one ribbon. \nGaslight Tour – Beginning at 7:00pm as darkness falls\, all are invited out into the streets of Greenfield Village for the Gaslight Tour. Whether it’s gas\, kerosene\, or early electric\, all are welcome. \n\n\nAWARDS TO BE PRESENTED AT THE CAR SHOW \nPopular Choice – Guests and vehicle owners cast their vote for their favorite vehicle by filling in the ballot using the participant number shown on the Dashcard displayed on your vehicle. One overall 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place awards will be presented on Sunday at approximately 4:30 pm. \nCurator’s Choice – In the spirit of this museum-oriented approach to collecting and preserving our automotive culture\, we present the “Curators Choice” award. This award will be presented to the car\, truck\, or motorcycle which\, in the opinion of Henry Ford’s transportation conservation and curatorial staff\, is the most original (unrestored) and in the finest state of preservation considering the age of the vehicle. This review has no bearing on whether a vehicle is accepted or denied participation in the event. Two Curator’s Choice awards will be presented on Sunday. \nJudges examine the authenticity of the vehicle\, the workmanship of all the restoration work before awarding prizes. \nVehicle Class Judging – Judging during Old Car Festival uses a 400-point system. The winners in the judging competitions are almost always “restored” vehicles. Professional museums that collect vehicles\, however\, prefer to collect un-restored vehicles. The ultimate standard for museum collecting would be a vehicle with all of its original\, un-restored surfaces and components in “as-new” condition. Although the standard is seldom obtainable\, vehicles that approach it are the best expression of the standard against which cars are judged is the way they appeared and functioned when sold new from the dealer to the original owner. \n(See This Article For More Information: How Classic Cars Are Usually Judged (or How They Should Be) \nThey are also an expression of the “material culture” of the time in which they were created\, and\, hence\, provide the best permanent documentation of that period. Therefore\, such vehicles are much sought after by museum curators. Judges examine the authenticity of the vehicle\, the workmanship of all the restoration work\, and the quality of maintenance performed by the owner. Then\, using a 400-point judging system\, they determine a first\, second\, and third place winner in each of the eleven (11) judging classes. From these winners\, one (1) Grand Champion is chosen on each day of the Festival. \nJudging starts at 10:00 am and ends at approximately 2:00 pm each day. You\, or an authorized representative\, must be at your vehicle when it is being judged in order to assist with opening hoods\, etc.\, and to answer any questions the judges may have about the vehicle. \nSaturday\, September 11th\, 2021 is the car show for vehicles dating 1919-1932.\nSunday\, September 12th\, 2021 s the car show for vehicles dating 1896-1918 & Commercial Vehicles. \nAll awards and ribbons will be presented on Sunday at approximately 4:30pm. Presentation will take place at the Pass-in-Review stand.
