DESCRIPTION:On the grassy lawns of Kentucky’s Keeneland Race Track\, hundreds of car enthusiasts will gather to get a rare glimpse at over 260 classic collectible cars and celebrate the heritage of the Cadillac marque at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance. \nThe two-day extravaganza will host a multitude of car-themed events\, including a Saturday Car Show\, a Sunday Rally\, a Club Paddock Car Show\, an Automotive Art Show\, a Silent Auction\, A Bourbon Tour\, a Maserati Preview Mingle\, and a 20th ANNIVERSARY Celebration Party.  \nIt all takes place at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance in Lexington\, KY\, on Sunday\, July 20\, 2025. \nThe last Keeneland Concours d’Elegance Car Show featured this world-famous movie called the “1964 Leslie Special” that was featured in the 1965 American comedy the “The Great Race” starring Jack Lemmon\, Tony Curtis\, and Natalie Wood. \nThis year’s Concours d’Elegance collection of vehicles will feature over 260 cars prominently showcased in 17 unique and distinctive car classes from years to marques. \nThe cars on display will hail from unique private car collections\, notable car museums\, and well-known\, award-winning car collections. As with all official Concours d’Elegance\, the cars will be judged by highly qualified historic car professionals and presented with awards at the end of the show. \n\n\nThis year’s classes will include the following car classes:\n\nConcours will feature Mercedes-Benz.\nAmerican Convertibles and Roadster Car Collections Built Between 1947 – 1976\nAmerican Coupes and Sedans manufactured between 1946 and 1976\nAmerican Performance and Race Cars were manufactured from 1955 to 1979\nEuropean Sports and Foreign Classics\, all years\, including Coach Built Classics\nSpecialty car classes on display will include Corvettes\, Cadillacs\, and Firetrucks\nThe Keeneland Concours welcomes rare collectible cars from the CCCA 1915 – 1948\nOther car classes include Future Classics\, Loud & Furious\, antique Carriages\, and Motorcycles\n\n\nThis will be a rare opportunity to get a glimpse of the full collection of classic vintage Cadillacs at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance. There will be a large display of vintage 1950s and 1960s Cadillacs\, as well as Cadillacs that date back to as early as 1903 and as new as 2025. \nCadillac examples on display encompass iconic classics such as an antique single-cylinder 1903 Runabout\, a 1930 Cadillac V16\, a 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe\, a 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville\, a 1967 Cadillac Eldorado\, and a 1979 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. There may even be a 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ (EV) electric vehicle that you can try out for size. \nIn addition\, another featured class will include Vintage “Fire Trucks”. Here you will see fire trucks as old as when they were built on horse-drawn carriages. \nBoth the Cadillacs and Fire Trucks will be part of the awards presented at the end of the concourse. \n\n\nCOMPLETE CAR SHOW WEEKEND EVENT SCHEDULE\nTHURSDAY\, JULY 17TH\nThe first event of the weekend is called the “Bourbon Classic Car Tour“. The seven-hour tour is a one-of-a-kind road rally through the scenic Kentucky countryside and includes a visit to the Taylor Made Farm and a historic underground Buffalo Trace Distillery built in 1873. \nThe Bourbon Tour takes place on Thursday\, July 17th\, from 12:00pm to about 7:00 pm. Bourbon Classic Car Tour tickets will set you back $1\,000 for one person and $1\,500 per couple. \nYou can pre-buy tickets at  (Read more about the Bourbon Tour)\n\n\nFRIDAY\, JULY 18th\nOn the following day\, on Friday\, July 18th\,  is a big bash called the “Concours Celebration Party”. This is a social opportunity for all the collector car owners\, judges\, VIPs\, and staff to get together for hors d’oeuvres\, cocktails\, and live music\, and swap stories. \nThe party will celebrate a Keeneland 20th Emerald Anniversary\, sponsored by Bluegrass Motorsports\, and will benefit the UK Healthcare Kentucky Children’s Hospital. \nThe Party is a formal event – Cocktail Attire Recommended – takes place from 6:30 pm – 10:30 pm with tickets costing $125 per person. \nTickets are available online at: tickets.keenelandconcours.com or by calling 859-806-3245 \nSaturday is filled with three separate events\, which include a “Car Club Paddock Car Show”\, a “Silent Auction”\, and the Main Event called the “Keeneland Concours d’Elegance”.  \n\nSATURDAY\, JULY 19TH\nFirst off\, starting at 9:00 am on Saturday\, July 19th\, is the “Car Club Paddock & Car Show”. The Paddock Show is a rare opportunity for car enthusiasts to get up close and personal with more than 500 privately owned collector cars from over 14 different car clubs\, made up of approximately 425 members. \nThe cars include a cavalcade of highly collectible antique\, vintage\, and classic cars. In a city that gave the world the automobile\, to be left without even a single concours is nothing short of tragic. \nIt is not simply the end of a show; it is the quieting of a heritage that once stood tall as the heartbeat of the Motor City. \nDetroit has always been more than just another city. It was here that Henry Ford perfected the assembly line\, turning the Model T into a machine for the masses and changing the course of modern life. \n \nFrom Detroit rolled out the great marques that defined entire eras: Cadillac’s elegance\, Dodge’s toughness\, Chrysler’s ingenuity\, and GM’s vast portfolio of innovation. \nThe automobile built Detroit\, and Detroit built the automobile. For that reason alone\, it seems unthinkable that the city no longer has a concours to honor its legacy. \n\nThe History of Detroit’s Concours\nTo understand the weight of this cancellation\, one must return to the origins of Detroit’s concours tradition. It began in 1979 with the Meadow Brook Concours d’Elegance\, held on the sprawling grounds of the historic Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester\, Michigan. \nBuilt between 1926 and 1929 by Matilda Dodge Wilson\, widow of auto pioneer John Dodge (yes\, Dodge cars)\, Meadow Brook Hall was a fitting backdrop for a grand Concours d’Elegance and a celebration of the automobile. \nIts Tudor-revival architecture\, manicured lawns\, and connection to the Dodge family made it a venue steeped in automotive history. \nMeadow Brook Hall in Rochester\, Michigan\, was built between 1926 and 1929 by Matilda Dodge Wilson\, widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge\, and her second husband\, Alfred Wilson. Constructed for $4 million\, it is a 110-room\, 88\,000-square-foot example of Tudor Revival architecture\, and is now a National Historic Landmark. \nThe Meadow Brook Concours quickly grew into one of the nation’s most prestigious shows\, often considered on par with Pebble Beach. Rare classics\, brass-era automobiles\, and one-off concept cars lined the estate\, while the event itself expanded into a weekend-long lifestyle experience. \nFor collectors and enthusiasts\, it became a pilgrimage—a place where history\, elegance\, and community merged. \nIn 2011\, the event moved from Meadow Brook to The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth\, Michigan\, adopting the new name Concours d’Elegance of America. Though the setting changed\, the purpose remained: to showcase the finest automobiles ever created and to celebrate Detroit’s unmatched role in shaping automotive history. \nFor a decade\, the Concours d’Elegance of America carried on this tradition\, drawing crowds and world-class cars to Michigan each summer. \n\nHagerty’s Ownership\nWhen Traverse City-based specialty auto insurance company Hagerty assumed ownership in 2021\, many hoped the company would carry forward Detroit’s Concours tradition as it was moved downtown to the Detroit Institute of Arts. \nAs an insurance and lifestyle brand\, Hagerty has done much to promote automotive enthusiasm\, but the Detroit Concours was different. \nHoused in the Detroit Institute of Arts\, Diego Rivera’s monumental Detroit Industry Murals are recognized worldwide as symbols of Detroit’s legacy as the Motor City and a global center of industrial and automotive innovation \nThe Detroit Concours was never meant to be just another weekend car show. Its relocation to the Detroit Institute of Arts gave it profound cultural weight\, staged in the shadow of Diego Rivera’s world-famous 1933 Detroit Industry Murals. Few venues could better symbolize the Motor City’s unmatched legacy in car culture and automotive history. \nInstead\, the event lost its identity. Hagerty continues to oversee other world-class concours events—Pebble Beach Concoursd’Elegance\, Amelia Island Concours \, and Greenwich Concours among them—all of which thrive under their stewardship\, drawing collectors and enthusiasts from across the globe. \nYet Detroit\, the very birthplace of the automobile\, has been left behind.
