SUMMARY:RM Sotheby's 15th Annual Brass Era & Pre-War Auto Auction Takes Place in Hershey\, PA On October 7-8\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:RM Sotheby’s 15th annual Hershey sale\, the official auction of the AACA Eastern Division Fall Meet\, will return to the Hershey Lodge in Hershey\, Pennsylvania\, 7–8 October. \nHeld annually\, RM Sotheby’s Hershey sale is the benchmark for early collectibles\, ranging from Brass Era through to Pre-War cars; new auction records are achieved each year at this very unique sale venue. \nThe Hershey sale coincides with the Antique Automobile Club of America’s Eastern Division Fall Meet\, one of the largest automobilia shows and flea markets in the world. Collectors come from across the globe to Hershey each year in search of the rarest and most sought-after parts and collectibles. \nThe Hershey Lodge in Hershey\, Pennsylvania Is Where The RM Sotheby’s Auction Will Take Place on October 7 & 8\, 2021 \nHershey\, Pennsylvania is rich in car culture\, home to the world headquarters of the AACA and the AACA Museum\, and a truly world-class automotive experience.RM Sotheby’s Hershey PA \n\nSCHEDULE AND TIMES OF EVENTS \nWED 6 OCT 2021\nPREVIEW from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM\nPREVIEW & BBQ at: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM \nTHURSDAY OCTOBER 7th\, 2021\nPREVIEW: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM\nAUCTION: 5:00 PM – CLOSE \nFRIDAY OCTOBER 8th\, 2021\nPREVIEW: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM\nAUCTION: 5:00 PM – CLOSE \n(CHECK SOTHEBY’S OFFICIAL SCHEDULE) \n\nABOUT THE AUTO AUCTION\nThree outstanding American classics\, offered from a single-owner collection\, are set to cross the block\, all offered without reserve. Longer than any Packard and lower than any Duesenberg\, this 1931 Duesenberg Model J Roadster known as the “Green Hornet” sits among the most remarkable examples available on the market\, wearing unique and rakish Packard Roadster bodywork fitted by Duesenberg in 1931. \nThis important and bespoke Duesenberg claimed an award at the prestigious Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance (Estimate: $1\,400\,000 – $1\,800\,000). It would be an outstanding addition to any world-class collection. Accompanying the Duesenberg is a 1935 Auburn Eight Supercharged Speedster\, one of the most instantly recognizable and striking of all the iconic pre-war American sports cars. \n1931 Duesenberg Model J Roadster \nA model much in demand with collectors\, this stunning example on offer in Hershey was a best-in-class winner at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance and will undoubtedly attract significant interest (Estimate: $700\,000 – $900\,000). \nRounding out the third American classic offered from this collection is a 1930 Packard 745 Deluxe Eight Roadster by LeBaron. Exhibited at the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance\, this car is one of just a handful of authentic examples believed to still be in existence (Estimate: $350\,000 – $450\,000). \nAmong the American classics crossing the block in Hershey is one of the most collectible\, rare\, and highly desired Packard models\, notable for its striking coachwork\, this 1940 Packard Custom Super Eight One Eighty Sport Sedan by Darrin is one of just four examples believed to have been produced. \nThis Super Eight has been awarded first place at the Packard Automobile Classics National and was a first prize winner at a CCCA National Senior event. Offered from one of the world’s preeminent Packard collections\, this example has a pre-sale estimate of $325\,000 – $375\,000. \n1930 Packard 745 Deluxe Eight Roadster by LeBaron \nNo Hershey sale is complete without a selection of fine brass era cars. This year is no exception with a stand-out lot being the 1912 Stanley Roadster Tribute\, a fascinating tribute to Chassis 6700; the bespoke Roadster commissioned by company heir Raymond Stanley. \nThis example was constructed using the chassis\, running gear\, steam engine\, and underpinnings of the 1912 Stanley which was driven by Jay Leno in 2017 to the summit of Mount Washington\, recreating the famous 1899 summitting by company founder Freelan Oscar Stanley (Estimate: $150\,000 – $200\,000). \nOther notable entries set to cross the block in Hershey include a supremely rare and impeccably presented 1909 Peerless Model 19 Touring. With correct and desirable fittings throughout\, this Peerless is one of just two examples believed to be produced by the Peerless Motor Car Company of Cleveland\, Ohio. \nThis example was awarded the “Early Pioneer” Award during the 2015 Elegance at the Hershey Concours d’Elegance and will cross the block as an AACA National First Prize Winner (Estimate: $100\,000 – $150\,000). \nThis year’s Hershey sale is also notable for an excellent selection of classic American ‘Woodies’. The high-quality selection of Woodies is led by a beautiful 1947 Ford Super Deluxe Sportsman Convertible. This Certified Milestone Car is among the rarest and most reliable of all Ford ‘Woodies’ (Estimate: $100\,000 – $125\,000). \nHOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS AT THE HERSEY HOTEL & RESORT \nRESERVATIONS (844) 330-1802\nADDRESS: HERSHEY LODGE 325 UNIVERSITY DRIVE\, HERSHEY\, PA 17033 \n\nClient Service and Administration Contacts\nClient Service: Jera Presley\njpresley@rmsothebys.com\n+1 260 927 9797 \nAdministration: Allie Brydges\nabrydges@rmsothebys.com\n+1 519 437 3049

It supports itself with a front and rear suspension from the 2005 Ford GT and comes with a power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system\, Brembo custom disc brakes\, and BF Goodrich Racing Rubber that read “Not for use on public roads.” \n\nMUST SEE CAR NUMBER #3. \nA third contender is the “SFM5R538” This car was the winningest 1965 Shelby GT350R Fastback ever to be built\, One of only 36 factory competition models ever built and this should sell for over $1million.This Shebly won 17 straight wins from 1968-1969 with Charlie Kemp driving the car.  Through 1971\, Kemp entered 54 races\, finished 42\, and won 32 Ran at a clocked 184 MPH at Daytona at 1968\, the highest speed is known for any 289-powered Shelby. \n \nA Must See Car T Be Auctioned Is “The Winningest Shelby Ever” a 1965 Shelby GT350R Fastback SFM5R538 \nThis Shelby has a one of a kind build including a  289/325 HP V-8 engine\, Holley 4-barrel carburetor\nCobra high-rise intake manifold\, Tri-Y headers\, Oil cooler\, and high capacity radiators\, and a Borg-Warner T10 4-speed manual transmission to spin the tires. \nTwo groups of cars that may dominate the auction are the Corvette’s and Porsche’s. \nBeyond the Featured Main Event:\nMany more collector cars will be auctioned by Mecum in August. “This year’s Monterey Mecum Auction will be heavy on Corvette’s and Porsche’s”\, says John Kraman Mecums’ spokesperson at public events. “Vehicles to be offered range from prewar classics and vintage muscle cars to luxury and high-end exotics\, modern supercars and more\, along with approximately 100 vintage and antique motorcycles”  “Come out early to look at all the cars\, tickets are only $20 in advance and $30 the day of the auction (Kids are Free) and bidders pass is $200.” Kraman continues\, “This is a return to Monterey after not being there last year but there 12 years.” \nOTHER VEHICLE COLLECTIONS TO BE AUCTIONED\nThe Jim Zanardi Collection\, The Don Wallace Collection\, Big Al’s Collection\, The Northern California Superbike Collection\, and the Ducati Bellevue Collection. \n  \n\n\nWatch the Mecum Auction Live & Past Recorded Episodes From Monterey Car Week & Pebble Beach on August 14\, 2021. What set Nibel’s supercharged Mercedes apart from the big blown Mercedes of the previous decade was the model’s advanced chassis design\, which combined swing axles at the rear with a new and very effective form of independent front suspension with superimposed triangular wishbones and coil springs. \nNibel had created the 500K to give more power and performance than his 380 of 1932. With its mighty 5-litre engine\, the 500K was one of the very few cars of the 1930s capable of achieving 100 mph on the open road. (Chassis no. 105136 / Engine no. 105136) \n\nFEATURE CAR: 1909 ROLLS-ROYCE 40/50HP SILVER GHOST \nAnother classic car to watch is the 1909 ROLLS-ROYCE 40/50HP SILVER GHOST OPEN DRIVE LANDAULETTE –  coachwork by Barker & Co. It also includes 4-Wheel Leaf Spring Suspension\, a 3-Speed Manual Transmission\, and Rear Drum Brakes. In its day\, this car was the newest evolution in-vehicle technology. \nThe 1909 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost is priced to sell at a minimum of (US) $1\,300\,000. \nAnd after the auction is over\, everyone is invited to join the Bonhan crew for an eventing “Evening Preview and BBQ” Wednesday 19 May\, 5 to 7 pm and “Auction Day Brunch” for Registered Bidders on Thursday 20 May\, 10.30 am at THE BONHAMS PAVILION at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club. SUMMARY:Mecum's 30th Annual Vintage & Antique Motorcycle Auction in Las Vegas Starts April 28\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:The new date for the 30th annual Mecum Motorcycle in Las Vegas will take place on April 28-May 1 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The auction will feature more than 1\,750 vintage and antique motorcycles for a five-day period. The auction was originally scheduled for January 26-31but due to the Covid Virus outbreaks in the greater Las Vegas area\, Mucum was forced to reschedule the show. There are many motorcycle enthusiasts that have been anticipating this show. \nOne of the most exciting motorcycles to be auctioned in April will be the 1917 Excelsior Big X with military forks\, a 61 CI V-Twin engine\, and a Luxor acetylene headlamp. \nAnother awesome motorcycle that will be auctioned is the 1952 Harley-Davidson K Model four-speed with a 45 CL engine. It is painted a beautiful Pearl White paint\, and the seller just rebuilt the engine. This thing should sell fast \nBut the main headliner is the Philip Vincent’sV-twin 1950 Vincent Black Lightning. This motorcycle is a legendary bike in motorcycling history. It features a new 70-horsepower engine and has an amazing top speed of 150 mph. There were only 31 cycles ever produced and should garner a hefty sum. \nTwo Highly-Anticipated Motorcycles to be Auctioned: Philip Vincent’s V-twin 1950 Vincent Black Lightning (Left) – 1952 Harley-Davidson K Model (Right) \nAs history shows us\, motorcycles have been around since the first 1885 Daimler Reitwagen made by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in Germany.  The Daimler Reitwagen is considered to be the first internal combustion (iCE) motorcycle. However\, the Hildebrand & Wolfmüller\, made in 1894\, was the first production motorcycle to be manufactured across the planet. Since then\, there have been hundreds of different types of motorcycles manufactured and some of them are right here in this upcoming auction. \nSome of these Motorcycle Brands and Marques that will be auctioned in July are Ducati\, Honda\, BMW\, Yamaho\, Motobi\, Triumph\, Exelsior\, Suzuki\, Motobecane\, Harley-Davidson\, Buell\, Rokon\, Handy\, Coats\, Tony Kart\, Rickman\, BSA\, Velocette\, MZ\, KTM\, Norton\, Greeves\, Champion\, Bultaco\, MV Augusta\, and Zundapp Sachs.
