The location features live airshows\, food and drink\, and other entertainment. The Sywell Aerodrome\, which was established in 1928 and played a significant role during the Second World War\, has a somber past. SUMMARY:Mecum To Host The World’s Largest Road Art® Auction Ever Held At The Mecum Headquarters In Walworth\, WI (June 20-25\, 2023)
DESCRIPTION:Mecum will host a Mega Automobilia Auction called the “World’s Largest Road Art®” Auction from the Mecum Headquarters in Walworth\, WI (June 20–25\, 2023). \nThis auction will be a rare opportunity to not only visit the World-Famous Mecum Headquarters but also scoop up some of the world’s greatest one-of-a-kind and hard-to-find automobilia to ever hit the market. \nThis auction will include over 3\,000 carefully curated car-themed collectibles that will light up any car collector’s car condo\, car garage\, basement\, or home. \nDominating the event will be one of the largest selections of unique\, vintage\, antique\, and rare auto-related signs. The selection includes hundreds of large and small nostalgic neon signs including hand-crafted porcelain signs\, vintage tin signs\, roadside car dealership signs\, antique wooden signs\, one-off signs\, famous diners – and more. \nThe signs are from such well-known brands as Coca-Cola\, Pepsi\, Ford\, Pontiac\, Buick\, Firestone\, Greyhound\, Rexall Drugs\, and even Big Boy – just to name a few. One favorite is a neon “Star Lanes” bowling alley sign. \nOther car-themed collectibles include vintage gas pumps\, antique kids’ pedal cars\, classic car posters\, antique oil cans\,  branded clocks\, gas pump globes\, and wall art of all kinds. \nHere is a 1940s double-sided tin neon sign in its original cabinet\, shining with a great patina. The sign prominently features the famous Rocco and Cheater’s Speed Shop from Birmingham\, Alabama \n  \nFEATURED COLLECTIBLES \nA particular favorite that will cross the auction block is an original\, one-of-one 1940s Rocco and Cheater’s Speed Shop Double-Sided Tin Neon Sign (Lot F341). The sign is historic as it advertised a famous hangout for racing enthusiasts’ hotspot called Rocco’s Speed Shop in Birmingham\, Alabama\, which opened in 1944. The giant  Roco arrow-shaped two-colored neon sign measures nearly 10 feet tall and 4 feet wide. \nThis is an iconic American 1950s porcelain Used Car Neon Sign featuring a 1950s Cadillac smashing into a wall. The historic sign is bright and colorful and was prominently placed in the Motor City (Detroit)\, on the sidewalk right off of I-75 and 8 Mile Road. \nAnother historical and one-of-a-kind 1950s roadside sign up for sale is a gargantuan One-Sided animated Crash Shop Neon Sign labeled “Sam’s Auto Parts. The animated sign features a 1950s Cadillac crashing into a brick wall\, resulting in a wrecked front end\, and a flat tire\, while the neon headlights are blinking. The sign is one-of-a-kind\, stands about 11 feet tall\, and was an icon in Detroit for many years. \nEqually historical is a single-sided\, two-color giant neon porcelain car dealership advertising “Wolf Chevrolet\,” (SELLING LOT F157)  in Belvidere\, Illinois. It sports the humongous Chevrolet logo outline with blue neon lights and is one of the largest “Chevrolet” signs ever produced\, measuring 29 feet by 9 feet. This iconic sign is a must for any Chevrolet car collector. \nThis is one of the largest One-Sided Porcelain Neon Signs ever produced. It measures 28’x9′ and was proudly displayed\, boasting the Wolf Chevrolet Car Dealership in Belvidere\, Illinois. \nA large portion of the auto-related memorabilia up for auction will come from the “Jeff Spanier Gas and Oil Collection“. \nThe Spanier collection includes over 200 high-quality branded globes (the lighted globes mounted on top of vintage gas pumps) and over 400 authentic vintage gas and oil cans. One of the main attractions of this collection is an exceptional\, hyper-bright one-piece Texaco Fire-Chief Hat Gas Pump Globe (Lot F189 for bidders). The Globe stands almost one foot tall and is the only one known to exist. \nOn the left is a Texaco Fire-Chief Hat Gas Pump Globe where only one is known to exist in the collector’s world. On the right is a highly sought-after pyramid-shaped 1920s Marathon Motor Oil 1-Gallon Oil Can resembling an old Oil Derrick (pumping station). \nAlso from the Jeff Spanier collection is a rare shaped Marathon Motor Oil 1-Gallon Oil Can (Lot F22 if you plan to bid). The oil can reads “Marathon Oil Company” and is uniquely shaped in a pyramid shape that reflects the shape of an oil field pumping station of the past. \n\nFROM The “King of Cool\,” STEVE MCQUEEN\nBut one of the most anticipated items\, which is a class by itself\, comes from the “King of Cool\,” Steve McQueen. This lot includes an original set of Baruffaldi Racing Italian Glasses (Lot S162 for bidders) that McQueen used while racing under his alias racing name\, “Harvey Cushman”. \nThese 1960s-1970s Steve McQueen Baruffaldi Sunglasses were actually owned by “The King of Cool” himself. The multicolor\, three-lens set of glasses includes a signed authenticity certificate from Barbara McQueen. \nThese glasses were actually worn on a regular basis by the King-of-Cool while racing motorcycles\, sports cars\, and even planes. The set includes a carrying case\, three multi-collared lenses\, and most importantly\, a certificate of authenticity signed by McQueen’s wife\, Barbara McQueen. \nAll in all\, there will be thousands of hard-to-find and one-of-a-kind rare car-themed auto-related memorabilia items for sale at the Mecum Road Art Auction. \nThere are way too many to list in this article. SUMMARY:RM Sotheby's Auction in Dubai Reveals Multi-Million Dollar Hypercars & Supercars on March 9\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:RM Sotheby’s inaugural auction will launch in Dubai for the first time on March 9\, 2024\, with a fantastic selection of multi-million dollar vehicles. The auction will also include priceless watches\, collectible model cars and other vintage car collector memorabilia.  The one-day auction will take place at Dubai’s new “Concrete” venue”\, a new uniquely designed building in the UAE designed by the Office of Metropolitan Architecture (OMA). \nSCHEDULE (GST) \n\nPREVIEW DAY\nDATE:  Friday\, March 8 2024 (12:00 pm – 7:00 pm)\nDATE:  Saturday\, March 9 2024 (12:00 pm – 5:00 pm)\nAUCTION\nDATE: SATURDAY\, 9 MARCH 2024\n12:00 pm – 5:00 pm\nPREVIEW\n\nNotable highlights include a diverse selection of luxury and performance vehicles. For instance\, the 2018 Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet (Lot 140) stands out as a rare gem\, being one of just 99 examples produced. \nThe 2018 Mercedes-Benz G 65 AMG ‘Final Edition’ stands out as an exclusive vehicle\, with only 65 units available worldwide. Powered by a robust 6.0-litre\, twin-turbocharged V-12 engine\, it delivers 621 brake horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. Dressed in an imposing Obsidian Black Metallic finish\, this G-Wagen is among the most fully equipped models ever offered. With just 457 kilometres on the odometer\, it presents a rare opportunity to own a piece of automotive history. \nThis ultimate G-Wagen\, designed for both luxury and off-road capability\, features a V-12 engine producing 621 brake horsepower and is estimated to sell for between $250\,000 – $330\,000 USD. \n\nAnother beast of a car at the auction will be a 2016 Koenigsegg Agera RSR with an estimated value of $2\,800\,000 to $3\,400\,000 USD.  The Koenigsegg is presented in a stunning black with red accents and carbon fiber trim. Best of all\, the Odometer reads only 993 kilometers. \nThe Hypercar Koenigsegg Agera is a mid-engine sports car produced by the Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg. It is a successor to the CCX/CCXR. The name comes from the Swedish verb ‘agera’\, which means ‘to act’ or in imperative form\, ‘(You) act!’. The Agera RS variant became the world’s fastest production car in 2017\, setting a record with a GPS-verified two-way average top speed of 447 km/h (278 mph) and a fastest straight-line speed of 458 km/h (285 mph). (Reference: Wikipedia) \nThis 2016 Koenigsegg Agera quickly became a hit after its 2010 launch\, earning Top Gear’s Hypercar of the Year award the same year. Despite Koenigsegg’s recent entry into the auto industry in 1994\, the Agera outshone older rivals. Koenigsegg continually upgraded the Agera\, releasing the Agera R in 2011\, Agera S in 2013\, One:1 in 2014\, and the Agera RS in 2015. \nThe Agera RS\, known as “the ultimate track tool\,” combined the best of its predecessors with a light\, racetrack-optimized design. It featured a 5.0-litre V-8 engine producing 1\,160 horsepower. In 2017\, a special version of the Agera RS set a world record with an average speed of 447 km/h\, making it the fastest production car at the time. \n\nAnother major draw for hypercar enthusiasts is the limited edition 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé. With only 123 kilometers on the odometer\, it is presented in ‘as new’ condition. This rare vehicle boasts reflective gloss carbon fiber and Black Matte lightweight magnesium wheels. It has an electronically limited top speed of 220 mph and can outperform almost any other car on the road with an acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. \nThis limited edition 2023 Aston Martin Valkyrie Coupé is one of the most wanted and sought-after supercars in the world. Designed by Adrian Newey Miles Nurnberger\, this  Valkyrie will come available at the RM Sotheby Bubai auction and will have an asking price of $2\,900\,000 – $3\,300\,000 USD. \nThe above Formula 1-inspired Valkyrie Coupé is a road-legal racer and Aston Martin’s Formula 1-inspired road-legal race car is one of only 150 examples produced. It includes a 1\,140 horsepower Cosworth V-12 engine equipped with electric motor-assisted. \nFurther\, this rocketship is capable of speeds of 0-100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds with a top speed reported to be more than 400 km/h. Better yet\, the car registers only 123 kilometers on the odometer and is considered as in “New Condition”. \nOver the years\, this highly collectible Aston Martin Valkyrie nas set a new standard for road-legal cars with motorsport-grade performance. It’s the result of a partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing. The famous Adrian Newey\, an aerodynamics expert\, played a key role in its design. \nThis 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss edition is priced to sell at between $3\,000\,000 – $3\,500\,000 USD. The car is only one of only 75 examples made; the rarest version of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. \nAnother highly anticipated collector car up for auction is the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Stirling Moss edition. This vehicle pays tribute to the legendary 300 SLR driven by Stirling Moss and is a famed 1955 Mille Miglia winner. \nLimited to just 75 units\, this iconic car is powered by a powerful 5.4-liter supercharged AMG V-8 engine that produces above 641 horsepower. Beyond that\, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 354 km/h. For serious car collectors\, the provenance includes an initial delivery to Luxembourg\, and it is now presented in excellent condition with just 9\,233 kilometers on the odometer. \nVIEW ALL CARS FOR SALE AT THE RM SOTHEYS AUCTION HERE. \nBeyond vehicles\, the Dubai auction will include a wide selection of highly collectible auto memorabilia. Some of the items include a race suit and a helmet worn by Michael Schumacher\, as well as a wide variety of prominent scale model cars. The memorabilia section extends to rare and high-end watches with automotive connections\, including a unique Rolex Daytona UAE (Ref. 6263) stainless steel chronograph. \nBidders interested in participating should be aware of the specific registration requirements for this auction\, including a no-retraction policy for bids once made and the responsibilities of ownership transfer that follow a successful bid. The buyer’s premium varies\, with a 15% rate applied to motor car lots up to a final hammer price of 0\,000.00\, and a mix of 15% and 12.5% for amounts exceeding this threshold. Non-motor car lots carry a buyer’s premium of 20%. \n\nAUCTION LOCATION \n\n“CONCRETE” (Event Center)\nAlserkal Avenue\nDubai\nUnited Arab Emirates \n\n\nABOUT THE VENUE CALLED CONCRETE IN DUBAI \n“Concrete” is a unique\, multi-disciplinary space located at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai’s Al Quoz district. The Concreate venue stands out as the first project in the UAE by the renowned Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA)\, making it a landmark venue in Dubai. \n“Concrete” offers a versatile setup across its 600 square meters\, with double-height ceilings\, movable walls\, and a translucent facade\, designed to host a diverse range of cultural events including art exhibitions\, symposia\, and performances. Since its inauguration in March 2017\, Concrete has been a pivotal platform for both local and international cultural initiatives. \n\nABOUT DUBAI UAE \nDubai\, a city and emirate in the United Arab Emirates\, is known for luxury shopping\, ultramodern architecture\, millionaires\, and a lively nightlife scene. Burj Khalifa\, an 830m-tall tower\, dominates the skyscraper-filled skyline. \nAt its foot lies the Dubai Fountain\, with jets and lights choreographed to music. On artificial islands just offshore is Atlantis\, The Palm\, a resort with water and marine-animal parks. Dubai’s transformation from a small trading center to a global city and business hub mirrors the ambitious vision of its leaders. \n\nHOW TO GET TO CONCRETE IN DUBAI \n“Where to find us: Alserkal Avenue is located in the Al Quoz industrial area of Dubai\, accessible through three entrances on 17th Street\, 6A Street\, and First Al Khail Street in Al Quoz 1. \nArriving by public transport: Various transit lines have routes passing near Alserkal Avenue. \nBy metro: The closest metro station is Onpassive Metro Station (previously known as Al Safa Metro Station)\, serviced by the M1 line.
