The cause—research for vision restoration—is so incredible. And the curation of cars is amazing.”\n— Ralph Gilles\, Chief Design Officer at Stellantis \nEyesOn Design distinguishes itself by focusing exclusively on automotive design aesthetics. Judging is conducted by professional designers from global original equipment manufacturers. \nThey evaluate each vehicle’s exterior based on emotional appeal\, execution\, artistic excellence\, and design character. Interiors are assessed for appearance\, functionality\, material usage\, color coordination\, and harmony with the exterior. \nThe Car Show will spotlight over 200 vehicles\, including legendary Detroit-manufactured models that have defined automotive design from the 1900s to the present. From iconic muscle cars like the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro to groundbreaking concepts such as the Chrysler Turbine Car. This approach ensures that recognition is given to vehicles that exemplify outstanding design\, irrespective of restoration status or historical significance. \n\nIf you need further adjustments or additional information\, feel free to let me know. \n\nFEATURED CAR CLASSES\nThe 2025 show features a diverse array of vehicle classes\, each reflecting distinct art movements: \n\nClassicism: Showcasing coachbuilt makes like Duesenberg and Packard\, illustrating the refinement of early luxury automobiles.\nArt Nouveau: Featuring vehicles with long\, flowing lines\, including Figoni and Falaschi bodied Delahayes.\nArt Deco: Highlighting streamlined designs such as the Chrysler Airflow and Cord 810.\nRomanticism: Presenting post-war British luxury cars from Rolls-Royce\, Bentley\, and Jaguar.\nRomanesque: Displaying post-war Italian sports and GT cars from Ghia\, Lancia\, Maserati\, and Alfa Romeo.\nFuturism: Exhibiting American cars with exaggerated aircraft and rocket-inspired designs from the 1950s.\nBaroque: Featuring ornate 1958 American cars from major manufacturers.\nConceptual Art: Showcasing rare concept cars from Chevrolet\, Ford\, and Chrysler.\nCubism: Highlighting geometric designs like the 1961 Lincoln Continental.\nBauhaus: Presenting German luxury coupes from Mercedes\, BMW\, and others\, emphasizing functional design.\n\n\nVISIONARY CAR CLASSES\nA unique aspect of EyesOn Design is the “Visionaries” class\, where visually impaired judges evaluate vehicles by touch\, emphasizing the event’s commitment to inclusivity and its support for the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology. \n\nLIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS\nThis year’s Lifetime Design Achievement Award honors Ian Callum\, CBE\, recognized for his influential work with Ford\, Aston Martin\, and Jaguar. \nThe award will be presented at the “Vision Honored” gala on Friday\, June 13\, at Michigan Central Station in Detroit.
