SUMMARY:Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix 40th Anniversary Festival & Week Of Events Starts July 15-24\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:The largest vintage street race in the country\, the 40th Annual Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix\, takes place over ten days and features racing\, auto exhibits\, parties\, parades\, and motorsport activities. The marathon takes place through the streets of Pittsburgh and through the hills of Schenley Park. \nIf you haven’t experienced real vintage street racing\, then this event is for you. Spectators attend the car shows and watch the vintage racing from the beautiful Bob O’Conner Golf Course. The races honor that of the origins of sports car road racing in the 40’s and 50’s at Watkins Glen and Elkhart Lake. The PVGP in Schenley Park remains the nation’s only vintage race held on city streets. \nThe PVGP Grand Prix Race through Schenley Park has 22 turns\, 11 elevation changes\, approximately 100 telephone poles\, an expanse of stone wall\, and numerous manhole covers. It’s no wonder the 2.33-mile circuit tests driving skills and entertains crowds. The races start every day at 8:30. \nThe PVGP races through Schenley Park are considered by many drivers to be the most challenging race course worldwide. With 22 turns\, 11 elevation changes\, approximately 100 telephone poles\, an expanse of stone wall\, and numerous manhole covers\, it’s no wonder the 2.33-mile circuit tests driving skills and entertains crowds. \nThe races start at 8:30 am each day and run until approximately 5:00 pm. The race schedule is listed below. Car Show participants can enter the show grounds beginning at 9:30 am. To register for the International Car Show\, visit the Registration Home. \nThe mission of the event is to produce a world-class vintage automotive event that raises funds for autistic and intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals in the Pittsburgh region. Because of the generous support from our volunteers and sponsors\, we have donated over $6 million since 1983. \nPittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Website \nSCHEDULE OF EVENTS \n\nJuly 15 – 17 9:00 AM – PVGP Historics at Pitt-Race\nJuly 15\, 6:30 PM – Black Tie & Tailpipes Gala\nJuly 18\, 5:00 PM – Walnut Street Invitational Car Show\nJuly 20\, 6:00 PM – Tune-Up at SouthSide Works\nJuly 21\, 6:00 PM – Passport to Elegance\nJuly 23 – 24  – ALL DAY – Schenley Park and Schenley Park Race Weekend\n\n  \nTypical race cars in the Grand Prix include 1982 Legrand Mk 27\, 1969 Merlyn 11A\, 1971 Lola T202\, and a 1978 Crossle 35F \n\n2022 SCHENLEY RACE WEEKEND CAR SHOWS \nLeading up to our International Car Show & Race Weekend at Schenley Park\, there are five different car shows.
