DESCRIPTION:July 9\, 2021 (Updated) The largest car show to take place in South Bend Indiana called the Copshaholm Concours d’ Elegance will open promptly at 9:00 am on South July 10\, 2021. \nALSO SEE: 2022 Copshaholm Concours d’ Elegance \nFestivities include a +100 car show for vintage and classic vehicles\, all-day tours at the Copshaholm “Oliver” Mansion\, and a Burt Levy book signing at the museum store tent. Vehicle awards are presented at 2.30 pm and the Concours closes at 4 pm. \nThe Copshaholm Concours d’ Elegance is Co-sponsored and presented by LaVine Restorations & The JBS Collection. \nThe Studebaker National Museum is thrilled to host the Concours d’Elegance at the famous Copshaholm Estate in a garden-party setting that includes nearly 70 vehicles. For the first time\, the show will take place in South Bend\, Indiana\, and feature a variety of Indiana-produced vehicles. It will also feature some interesting new vehicle class names that are said to have a “Sense of Humor”. \nThis year the car show will be held at the Copshaholm Estate in the landscaped Italianate gardens of the 2.5 acres estate. The estate is a historic landmark and is on the National Record of Historic Places as a Registered American Treasure. \nThe main house\, with all its 14 fireplaces\, was designed by famed New York architect Charles Alonzo Rich and was built in 1895 by industrialist millionaire J.D. Oliver who was the president of the Oliver Chilled Plow Works for over four centuries. The estate is often referred to as the “Oliver Mansion” due to the Oliver Family living at the mansion for over 72 years. \nThe Copshaholm Concours d’ Elegance takes place at the Oliver Mansion Estate once owned by the industrialist millionaire J.D. Oliver \nThe elegant Romanesque Queen Anne mansion\, which is also open for public tours\, has over 38-rooms\, a vintage teahouse\, rose garden\, pergola\, tennis lawn\, fountains\, and more. The furniture is all original and interior furnishings include porcelains\, silver\, prints\, stained-glass\, bronze statutes\, including some items by Bartolozzi and Lorado Taft. \nBut on July 10\, 2021\, the Copshaholm Estate will be transformed into a vehicle playground and feature over 75 vintage\, antique\, classic automobiles and motorcycles. Some iconic vehicle classes will include American Muscle Cars\, American Sports Cars\, Over-The-Pond British Sports Cars\, Luxury Classic Cadillacs\, Vintage Coachbuilt Classics\, Fabulous Fins of the 50’s\, The Kickin’ Brass Era Cars\, and of course\, the Studebaker Muscle Cars. \nThe Copshaholm Estate will be transformed into a vehicle playground and feature over 75 vintage\, antique\, classic automobiles and motorcycles. \nSome famous historic American vehicles and Marques on display at the show will be Corvette\, Caddilac\, Buick\, Studebaker\, Kaiser-Darrin\, Muntz\, Kurtis\, Woodill\, and Nash-Healey. And\, If you want to drive on the other side of the road\, historic vehicles and Marques from the British empire that will be on display will be Austin-Healeys\, Jaguars\, MG’s\, Triumphs\, and other vintage English sports cars. \nThere will also be a good selection of Automobiles from the industry’s pre-1915 “Brass” Era\, American automobiles from the 1950s “tail fin” Era\, and automobiles featuring custom body and coachwork. \nFor all you two-wheelers\, there will be a variety of featured historic motorcycles on display from such makers as Harley-Davidson\, Indian\, Henderson\, The American Motorcycle Company\, to name a few. \nThe award-winning vehicles and motorcycles on display this year will be supplied by some of the top car collecting legends and museums in the world. They include The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum\, the Gilmore Car Museum\, America’s Packard Museum\, and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum. \nConcours d’ Elegance at Copshaholm Award Ceremony \nDuring the event\, the public is free to stroll the grounds\, view all the vehicles\, and take a Copshaholm “Oliver” Mansion Tour. Also on display will be the Studebaker Styling Studio at the Studebaker National Museum which features the works of famous Studebaker designer Raymond Loewy. \n1940’s Studebaker Logo Designed by Raymond Loewy \nFamed industrial and car designer\, Raymond Loewy was instrumental in designing the Studabaker Starlight body which featured a rear-window that wrapped around the entire rear seat. Loewy also designed the Studebaker Avanti\, The Champion\, the Studebaker Logo\, and the ’53 Starliner which was recognized by Car and Driver as “one of the most beautiful cars ever made” . \nThe showgrounds open (July 10\, 2021) at 10 am and close and 5 pm the same day. During the day\, Concours awards will be presented to vehicle owners for “Best in Class” and “Best of Show”.
